what makes us different

employee empowerment

your expertise, your way

Unlike many agricultural operations, we encourage site-specific innovation and employee creativity. Each location adapts methods based on what works best, giving our team ownership over their work and processes.

From an accountant outlook, standardization is typically the goal. Like many things in agriculture, a β€œone size fits all” mentality does not always succeed. I respect that Wakefield encourages site-specific innovation and creativity to fit their site-specific needs. This may stay a standalone benefit or can be a launching point to improve companywide processes.

work-life balance that works

built around real life

We intentionally structure our operations around sustainable careers. Our approach to staffing and scheduling prioritizes both productivity and employee wellbeing because we know that's how you build something lasting.

Work-life balance is so important, and I’m very grateful for the hours that Wakefield offers. Yes, we start before the school day begins, but it’s great to be finished before school is over. It means less time in daycare and being home at a decent time without feeling rushed to get everything done before school activities start. Because of my schedule, I’ve been able to attend hockey games and dance shows without having to take vacation time. Wakefield is truly family-oriented and genuinely cares about making sure you can be there for your kids’ important events.

Working for Wakefield has allowed me a wonderful opportunity to grow & learn from some of the best within the swine industry. From the smallest details in the barn to large industry topics, I feel like I've gotten to learn the β€˜why’ behind what we do and what we ask others to do.

Getting to work with Wakefield pigs and the people who raise them has become very rewarding & something to take pride in every single day.
