WPI History

Wakefield Pork is a business relationship formed in 1991 by two second-generation pork producers looking towards expansion.  Using shared resources, the Langhorst’s and Peters’ leased their first sow facility near Richmond, MN in Wakefield Township.

Today, Wakefield Pork has grown into a well-managed system of leased and contract farrowing, nursery, finishing, and wean-to-finish facilities.  WPI has chosen to enroll in Pork for the European Union program, following strict guidelines that allow WPI to export pork in the European Union markets.

WPI's approach to the swine industry is a continuous, controlled expansion through teamwork and job ownership to produce an excellent pork product.  This combination has brought success to both Wakefield Pork and people associated with the company.
